Saturday September 10th - Rathayatra Festival (No Friday programme)

We won't be having our usual Hare Krishna Fridays meeting this week (September 9th) as we are preparing for our Rathayatra, a huge festival on Brighton Seafront.

Rathayatra is a festival for Lord Krishna and His devotees. It's an extraordinary spiritual event that originates in Jagannatha Puri on the east coast of India and dates back over 2,000 years. Everyone chants the Hare Krishna maha-mantra with musical instruments and drums along with dancing in ecstacy as Krishna in His most merciful form of Jagannatha is pulled along on a huge wooden cart. Click HERE for more info.

On Saturday September 10th 2022, the festival starts at 13.00 with chanting and dancing. At 15.00 there will be a special ceremony and the procession and pulling the Chariot carrying the sacred form of Krishna - Lord Jagannath aboard will start along the seafront finishing at Hove lawns. The festival will continue until 17.00. Free Veggie/Vegan feast served through out the afternoon.

Our starting point is just East of the i360 on Brighton Seafront, finishing near the Peace Statue on Hove Promenade.
