Weekly Bhagavad Gita Study
Every Tuesday from 7.30pm - 8.30pm, we have a weekly online Bhagavad-Gita study group. A great opportunity to dive deeper into the Gita, one of the main texts of the Hare Krishna community. It is ideal for those fairly new to the Gita, but all are welcome.
The Bhagavad-Gita is divided into three main sections: Yoga psychology (Karma-yoga), Theology (Bhakti-yoga), and Metaphysics (Jnana-yoga). We discuss all of these together to discover how this deep wisdom can be practically applied to our own daily lives and ongoing spiritual progress.
Each week we set some verses to read for the next meeting. It is recommended to read them along with the purports yourself in the week (but feel free to join even if you didn't get chance to read that week). We read the verses together in the meeting (not the purports, in the interest of time) and discuss the topics that come up for us personally (from the verses or purports).
Feel free to bring questions, realisations, doubts, curiosities, or points of discussion. If you would just like to hear the discussions, that is welcome too. A space to freely churn the depths of the Gita amongst like-minded souls for the benefit of us all.
The call starts at 7.15pm if anyone would like to chat/catch-up. Translation readings will start at 7.30pm and we'll see where the discussions take us after that. A great way to dive deeper into the Bhagavad-Gita from a bhakti perspective, whether it's your first time or your 101st time reading it.
The group will be hosted by local devotee His Grace, Madana Mohan das who is an experienced teacher in Bhakti Yoga and well versed in the Bhakti literatures.
"This knowledge is the king of education, the most secret of all secrets. It is the purest knowledge, and because it gives direct perception of the self by realization, it is the perfection of religion. It is everlasting, and it is joyfully performed." [Bhagavad-Gita 9.2]
