Hare Krishna dear friends and devotees. This Friday we will hear a talk from His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, who in 1965 brought this transcendental knowledge and practice of Bhakti Yoga to the West, for the benefit of all mankind. The talk is about the advent of the Golden Avatar of Krishna for this age, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who took the form of a devotee in West Bengal a little over 500 years ago. Next Friday we will celebrate the anniversary festival of His appaearance in whats called 'Gaura Purnima' and tonight, Srila Prabhupada will help us prepare for this ausipicious time.
ittham nr-tiryag-rsi-deva-jhasāvatārair
lokān vibhāvayasi hamsi jagat pratīpān
dharmam mahā-purusa pāsi yugānuvrttam
channah kalau yad abhavas tri-yugo ’tha sa tvam
In this way, my Lord, You appear in various incarnations as a human being, an animal, a great saint, a demigod, a fish or a tortoise, thus maintaining the entire creation in different planetary systems and killing the demoniac principles. According to the age, O my Lord, You protect the principles of religion. In the Age of Kali, however, You do not assert Yourself as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and therefore You are known as Triyuga, or the Lord who appears in three yugas.
Please join us for this uplifting and enlightening evening that all levels of practitioner will gain benefit and find a deeper understanding of the roots of this Bhakti Yoga movement. Also as usual we will have Hare Krishna Kirtans (chanting with musical instruments) and finish with a Veggie/Vegan Spiritual Feast. We look forward to seeing you there!
