At 'Hare Krishna Fridays' this week, we will be focusing on Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura - Srila Prabhupada's own Spiritual Master, who had his anniversary of his 'dissappearance' (passing away) this week.

We will learn from readings and a short film, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur lived a remarkable life of discipline, conviction and an unwavering drive to revive and spread Gaudiya Vaishnavism (Krishna Consciousness), and became known as 'The Lion Guru'.

Born in 1874 to the Great Acharya (teacher), Bhaktivinoda Thakur, he grew up in a home where devotion and scholarship went hand in hand and he took his father's legacy seriously of teaching the message of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to the world. He founded 64 branches of the 'Gaudiya Math', his spiritual institution, all over India plus one in London and another in Berlin. He passed away in 1937, leaving a movement that was organised and ready to spread far beyond Bengal inspiring his disciple A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada to travel to the West in 1965.

Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura's impact still shapes how Gaudiya Vaishnavism is taught and lived today and we hope to honour His legacy this evening and will also sing the song for the departed Vaisnavas - 'Je ānilo prema-dhana'.

As usual we will also have Hare Krishna Kirtans (chanting with musical instruments) and finish with a Veggie/Vegan Spiritual Feast. We look forward to seeing you there!
