Friday 26th February - Nityananda Festival online
Updated: Feb 26
This Friday we will be celebrating the glorious appearance of Lord Nityananda.
Lord Sri Krishna, as the Vedic literature ultimately explains, is the absolute Personality of Godhead, and His first expansion in a form for pastimes is Sri Balarama.
In the age of Kali-yuga, Lord Krishna appears in this material world as Lord Caitanya, and Balarama appears as Lord Nityananda. Lord Nityananda, is the spiritual brother of Lord Caitanya, and is the expansion of Lord Balarama, the brother of Lord Sri Krishna on the spiritual planet of Krishnaloka. He has descended to assist Lord Caitanya in spreading the chanting of the holy names of Lord Krishna in harinama-sankirtana, or the congregational chanting of the Lord’s holy names, and to bring the mercy of Lord Krishna to all the fallen, materially conditioned souls.
We are all yearning for physical Sangha and harinama-sankirtana, but until it is deemed safe to do so we are trying our best to have have an online festival to honour this special day.
So tonight via our Friday Night 'Zoom' we will have interactive Bhajans (devotional songs glorifying Nityananda), interactive dramatic readings of plays, an Abhisek (bathing of the Deity) and Kirtan.
